Depending on when you started your online business chances are that you still spend time every day commuting to and from work most likely by car, bus, or train. How do you utilize this time? Are you working? Thinking of work? Daydreaming? Or learning and growing?
When you are on your way to work – concentrate on the way not work
I think it was Jim Rohn how said, “when you are on your way to work – concentrate on the way not work”. I agree with him but would also encourage you to make the most of the time you have on your way to work to learn and grow.
Today there are many great tools that you can use to listen to audiobooks, online training (webinars that you can listen to), affirmations, subliminal programs, meditative programs (not applicable if driving though). Say that you spend two hours, on average, commuting daily and you work 220 days per year that adds up to an additional 450 hours that you invest in developing yourself.
Could you do more?
Could you add an extra half-hour in the morning or before going to bed? Perhaps meditating, expressing gratitude, or visualizing? Could you combine other tasks with educating yourself? Things like doing the dishes, mowing the lawn or vacuuming? How many hours would that add up to every year? How about when you exercise? Talk about the double benefit and efficiently utilizing the time.
When you summarize all these activities you see that they will add up to a significant number of hours. In fact, you might be able to get a full schoolyear (which constitutes of between 700-800 hours pending on where in the world you are) in education by utilizing time effectively. Only this time you get to choose what to study.
Why is this important? For you to create the results that you want in your business you must be a different person than who you are right now. Depending on how old you are you may have spent 20, 30, 40 years with the same beliefs, subconscious programs, and results. Therefore, to create the change you need to change the way you think and the way you act. Combining the lead time that you perform another task is a very effective way for you to start to re-program yourself.
Another benefit is that you will learn lots of new things that you can share and add value to other people through videos, blog posts, and social media.
Perhaps the most exciting benefit though is the statement that your income can only grow to the size you are.
I don’t know about you but this gives me the motivation to dedicate myself to a life of constant learning and growing.
